A Midsummer Night’s Dream

William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a play performed in late June 2014 in Dubrovnik. A joint production between Honey-tongued Theatre Productions, London and Brilliant Events, Dubrovnik brought a theatre performance in English to St. Lawrence Fort for the first time in decades.

Since the theme of the comedy is a clash between the real and the fairy world, we decided to have a double portrait. On the left, the fairy part, is monochromatic because the play was moved to the 1920s and the era of silent film. On the right is the real world, with a small addition of donkey ears. We opted for a dark background because the action takes place at night, but also to achieve greater visibility of the posters in the summer sun. Photos were taken by John Drennan.
